Solar panels in Shell Cove

Solar, batteries and EV chargers for Shell Cove, Dunmore and Balarang. A suburb still being built, which means a lot of people here are deciding about solar while they are deciding about everything else — so the first question is really one of timing.

  • Usually best installed after handover — and we explain why

New builds

Before handover or after in Shell Cove

On a house still under construction, solar is a timing question before it is a product question. The short answer is that the install belongs after handover, and the preparation belongs before it.

Before: conduit

Ask the builder for a route from the meter box to the roof space and to the garage wall. Cheap while the walls are open, awkward and surface-mounted afterwards.

After: the install

Once you have keys, an occupation certificate and a meter, it is a single day on a roof nobody else has a claim over — and the system can actually be connected.

Check the contract

Some builds already include a small system to meet the energy commitments the house was approved against. That changes what you should buy, not whether.

Why we would rather not be on a builder's site

It is the builder's site, the builder's insurance and often an unfinished roof, and there is no connection for a system to work with. More to the point, work done by a third party on a new roof can turn into an argument about responsibility if a defect appears later — and that argument is yours, not ours. Waiting until handover costs you a few weeks of generation and removes the whole category of problem.

Network rules change and every connection is approved on its own merits — we confirm the limit that applies to your address in writing before install day.

Already have a builder’s system?

If your build came with a small system, it is a starting point rather than a finished job: depending on the inverter you can add panels to it, run a second array alongside, or replace the inverter and keep the panels. Our Oran Park page works through the three options and what decides between them.

Batteries

Adding a battery in Shell Cove

Home batteries attract two separate incentives. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes an estimated $3,402 off a 13.5 kWh battery, and NSW’s PDRS battery incentive + VPP bonus can add more on top. Already have solar? We check your inverter first — some systems take a battery as they are, others need a hybrid inverter.

≈ $3,402

Estimated federal rebate on 13.5 kWh of usable storage

+ NSW

Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) battery incentive + VPP connection bonus.

Planning an EV?

Size your solar for it now. Our 10kW package comes pre-wired for a battery and an EV charger, so adding one later is a small job rather than a rebuild.

From quote to switch-on

How a Shell Cove install works

  1. Step 1

    Free assessment

We review your roof, shading, switchboard and a recent bill — or, on a house still being built, the plans, the roof orientation and what the builder has already committed to.

  2. Step 2

    Written quote

A quote with the panel layout, inverter and every extra itemised — no surprises later.

  3. Step 3

    Network approval

We lodge your grid-connection application and confirm any export limit before install day. On a new build this happens once the property has its own connection and meter.

  4. Step 4

    Installation

CEC-accredited electricians install, test and commission the system, then clean up. After handover this is a single day and touches nothing the builder is still responsible for.

  5. Step 5

    Switch-on

Your retailer updates the meter and we set up monitoring so you can see every kWh.
