One postcode, three roofs

What changes across Wollongong 2500

The 2500 postcode runs from the beach to the escarpment in a few kilometres. A system that suits a cottage in Gwynneville is not specified the same way as one on a beachfront street or a hillside in Mount Saint Thomas, so we design for the address rather than the postcode.

The beachfront

North Wollongong's beach streets get open-surf salt exposure. Panels cope; rails, clamps and fasteners need coastal-grade materials and no mixed metals in contact.

The escarpment

Keiraville, Mount Keira and Mount Saint Thomas climb towards the ridge. Steeper blocks, more trees, and winter afternoons that end early on the closest streets.

The city centre

Heritage-listed houses and strata buildings. Both can still go solar, but each needs a check or an approval before the quote is final.

Our generation figures are a regional average

The 4.1 kWh per kW per day we model with is a Sydney-region average, verified 2026-06-22, and our calculators use it for the whole state. It is a fair starting point in Wollongong, but it is not a local measurement. Your quote is built from your own roof, orientation and shading.

Network rules change and every connection is approved on its own merits — we confirm the limit that applies to your address in writing before install day.

Our Wollongong office

Kratos Energy is based at the University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus in North Wollongong. Assessments across 2500 are done by the same team that installs the system, and if anything needs looking at after switch-on, we are nearby.

Building or renovating? The system size depends on what you will run, not just on the last bill. Build your system from your appliances and see an estimate before anyone visits.

Batteries

Adding a battery in Wollongong

Home batteries attract two separate incentives. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes an estimated $3,402 off a 13.5 kWh battery, and NSW’s NSW VPP connection incentive (battery via federal program) can add more on top. Already have solar? We check your inverter first — some systems take a battery as they are, others need a hybrid inverter.

≈ $3,402

Estimated federal rebate on 13.5 kWh of usable storage

+ NSW

NSW virtual power plant (VPP) incentive when you connect an eligible battery to a VPP, on top of the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount. The NSW upfront battery discount ended for installs from 1 July 2025.

Planning an EV?

Size your solar for it now. Our 10kW package comes pre-wired for a battery and an EV charger, so adding one later is a small job rather than a rebuild.

From quote to switch-on

How a Wollongong install works

  1. Step 1

    Free assessment

We come out from our North Wollongong office to look at your roof, shading, switchboard and a recent bill. In 2500 we also check how far the address is from the surf, and whether the house is heritage listed or part of a strata scheme.

  2. Step 2

    Written quote

A quote with the panel layout, the inverter and every extra itemised, naming the mounting hardware grade where salt exposure calls for it.

  3. Step 3

    Approvals

We lodge the grid-connection application and confirm your export limit. Where a heritage listing or a strata by-law applies, we tell you what has to be approved first and by whom.

  4. Step 4

    Installation

CEC-accredited electricians install, test and commission the system, then clean up.

  5. Step 5

    Switch-on

Your retailer updates the meter and we set up monitoring. Because we are local, a follow-up visit is a short drive, not a booking weeks out.
