Solar panels in Windsor

Solar, batteries and EV chargers for Windsor, South Windsor, Bligh Park, Mulgrave, Clarendon, Wilberforce, Pitt Town, Freemans Reach and Glossodia — the whole 2756 postcode. This is the Hawkesbury floodplain, and most solar pages written for it pretend otherwise. The roof is the easy part here; where the inverter and the battery go is the part worth getting right.

  • 6.6kW systems estimated from about $3,990 after the STC discount
  • Equipment mounted with the flood planning level in mind, not out of habit
  • Acreage, sheds and long cable runs priced in the quote, not on the day

Living on the floodplain

Solar on the Hawkesbury floodplain: what actually changes

Windsor and South Windsor sit on the most flood-affected stretch of the Hawkesbury-Nepean, and anyone who has been here through 2021 and 2022 does not need that explained. What nobody explains is which parts of a solar installation the water is a problem for. It is a shorter list than you would think, and the decisions that matter are made before install day rather than after.

The roof is the safe part

Panels, rails and roof fixings sit well above anything the river has reached, and they are not usually what a flood costs you. If your array is already up there, it is very likely still the array you keep.

Height is a design choice

An inverter is wall-mounted equipment and someone decides what height it goes at. Mounting it above the flood planning level for your address is a few hundred millimetres of wall and costs nothing extra at install — and a great deal if it is wrong. The same argument applies to a battery, with more money attached.

Submerged means replaced

Water inside an inverter or a battery is a replacement, not a repair, and nothing comes back on until a licensed electrician has tested the installation. A display that looks normal after a flood is not evidence of a safe system.

A battery is not a reason to stay

This is the one thing we will not sell softly. Battery backup keeps a fridge, some lights and a few power points running through an outage, and in a valley where storms take the power out that is genuinely useful. It has nothing to say about a flood evacuation order. If the SES tells you to go, go — the equipment is insurable and replaceable and you are not. What we can do is make the system easy to shut down on the way out: isolation points somewhere reachable, and five minutes at switch-on showing you how, rather than a laminated card in the meter box.

Network rules change and every connection is approved on its own merits — we confirm the limit that applies to your address in writing before install day.

Out past the town: acreage, sheds and pumps

Most of 2756 is not the town centre. At Wilberforce, Freemans Reach, Glossodia and Pitt Town the house is one building among several, and the load that decides system size is often a pump or a shed rather than the air conditioning. The variable in the quote is distance: a long run to a second building has to be sized for the voltage drop and priced in writing, and a ground-mounted array is treated differently from roof panels. Our Glenmore Park page covers the acreage side in detail, including what a battery can and cannot realistically hold up.

Adding a battery in Windsor

Home batteries attract two separate incentives. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes an estimated $3,402 off a 13.5 kWh battery, and NSW’s NSW VPP connection incentive (battery via federal program) can add more on top. Already have solar? We check your inverter first — some systems take a battery as they are, others need a hybrid inverter.

≈ $3,402

Estimated federal rebate on 13.5 kWh of usable storage

+ NSW

NSW virtual power plant (VPP) incentive when you connect an eligible battery to a VPP, on top of the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount. The NSW upfront battery discount ended for installs from 1 July 2025.

Planning an EV?

Size your solar for it now. Our 10kW package comes pre-wired for a battery and an EV charger, so adding one later is a small job rather than a rebuild.

From quote to switch-on

How a Windsor install works

  1. Step 1

    Free assessment

We review your roof, shading, switchboard and a recent bill, and on a flood-affected block we look at where the inverter and any battery can go before we price anything.

  2. Step 2

    Written quote

A quote naming the panel and inverter models, the system size, the mounting position of the equipment, the total price and what is excluded.

  3. Step 3

    Network approval

We lodge your grid-connection application and confirm your export limit before install day. On acreage with a long run to a shed or a second meter, that is settled here rather than on site.

  4. Step 4

    Installation

CEC-accredited electricians install, test and commission the system, then clean up. You are told who is coming.

  5. Step 5

    Switch-on and shutdown

Your retailer updates the meter and we set up monitoring. We also walk you through shutting the system down and show you where the isolators are, because out here that is worth knowing before you need it.
